May Day

In spring, Padstow May Day (Obby Oss) is one of the most iconic. On 1st May, the harbour town erupts in colour, music, and dancing as the mysterious “Obby Oss” procession winds through the streets. It’s an ancient fertility festival that blends folklore, energy, and community spirit in a way that feels uniquely Cornish and deeply rooted in place.

Royal Cornwall Show

Early summer sees the arrival of the Royal Cornwall Show, a major agricultural showcase celebrating farming, food, and rural life. Held over three days, it brings together livestock competitions, local produce, crafts, and entertainment, offering a full picture of Cornwall’s countryside heritage and modern rural innovation.

Christmas Markets

As the festive season approaches, Cornwall’s Christmas Markets transform towns across the region into glowing winter destinations. Shanty Festivals

Falmouth Oyster Festival

The Falmouth Oyster Festival marks the start of the native oyster season in October. It’s a celebration of food, fishing, and coastal culture, featuring cooking demonstrations, tastings, and live music, all centred around one of Cornwall’s most prized local delicacies.

Mevagissey Feast Week

Mevagissey Feast Week, around the last week of June, brings a traditional village celebration filled with parades, live music, competitions, and fireworks. It’s a lively community festival that honours maritime history while bringing residents and visitors together in a close-knit harbour setting.

Helston Flora Day

Spring also shines with Helston Flora Day, a centuries-old celebration of renewal and the arrival of summer on the 8 May. The town is taken over by carefully choreographed dances, floral decorations, and processions that move through streets and buildings in a uniquely structured rhythm that’s been preserved for generations.

Boardmasters

Boardmasters Festival blends surf culture and live music on Cornwall’s north coast. Set across beaches and cliff-top venues, it attracts international artists, surfers, and festival-goers for a high-energy mix of sport, music, and coastal lifestyle against one of the UK’s most dramatic backdrops.
